About the Painting:
This painting was unplanned and more or less painted itself.
After wrapping my work for the day I found my hand reaching for a canvas and within a matter of minutes I had a Lion staring back at me. I was as surprised as anyone.
I posted the in-progress painting on my own blog and the painting was reserved at that time. I am making it available as a print.
You never know when the Muse will decide the next subject, as is my experience. I do love when it happens, it is magical for me. I hold the brush and the painting appears. This was one of those pieces. Very humbling work.

This painting was new for me painting on hard board. It is interesting the way the paint slides on the smooth board. Canvas has texture that grabs the paint...you have easier control over the oils, I find. By the middle of this work I kind of enjoyed it. I think I will try this support again.
